A family hotel which welcomes young children and babies will also benefit from letting parents know that rooms can be blacked-out for those essential daytime naps (for children and parents alike).

In blackout curtains the light is blocked by the lining and this can also give them a heavy feel of quality when drawn. This kind of lining will also protect the curtains from fading and give them a longer life as a result. 'Blackout-lined curtains' are widely available and at reasonable cost from specialist suppliers.

Decor and Measurements
When buying curtains it is worth looking at the overall decor of the guest room. Curtains can be matched with bedspreads and colour co-ordinated with other elements of the room, so it is a good idea to buy all elements from the same supplier to ensure a good match. Measuring curtains also depends on the decorative look you want to create. They can either be floor length or sill length. Sill length curtains need to go beyond the sill by at least six inches to give some thermal protection from the windows, which lose much more heat than the walls. If you have a radiator under the window then it is best that you leave at least an inch above it so that the curtains do not block the radiator from heating the room. Floor length need to stay around an inch above the floor so that they will not be damaged by repeated use.
