Headache Relief Through NLP

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Even if the brain itself is insensitive to pain, certain parts of the head such as the scalp, face, mouth and throat have nerve fibers that are sensitive to pain and which can ache. Headache - or cephalgia - ordinarily is used to describe any type of pain that one could feel in these sensitive parts of the head.

Headaches can be split into two groups: Primary headaches, such as stress headache, cluster headache and migraine headache, which are not caused by any disease; And Secondary headaches which are caused by a disorder.

Headaches are the most typical affection of the nervous system. Everybody will be affected by them at least once in their life, but for 55 million Americans, it is a frequent problem. The World Health Organization claims that one in every 20 adult suffers from recurrent headaches, with women being more at risk than men.

Headaches can be highly handicapping and may very negatively affect the individuals who experience them. Work ability is reduced for such individuals, which can negatively affect their financial situation.

The ability to socialize is also limited as the pain, or the fear thereof, may make people more likely to be upset. Some people who have migraine may even have to constantly be careful about what they eat, what they see, and also what they smell, as certain strong or unpleasant sensations may trigger pain.

Since headaches are considered such a common, harmless disease, people who suffer from them on a regular basis also have to deal with the incomprehension of other people. This social barrier may also prevent people from seeking medical attention and getting the treatment they need. But before it can be treated, a headache has to be "identified".

We have seen before that there were two main types of headache: Primary and Secondary, each subdivided into numerous different subtypes. Their symptoms may differ as well as their causes and, naturally, the way they can be treated. This is why they need to be effectively identified by a doctor so that you can receive an adequate treatment.

Stress headache, also referred to as tension headache, is the most ordinary sort of primary headache and accounts for an estimated 90 percent of headaches. It is usually considered related to stress or related to muscular and skeletal problems in the area of the neck.

Tension headache is mainly episodic and may persist from several minutes to several hours, but may last for several days in the most acute cases. It is usually described as a constant pressure, generally on each side of the head, or encircling it, occasionally also affecting the neck.

Migraine is a little bit different and is reckoned to almost certainly have a genetic origin. Migraines happen when the brain releases substances that cause pain, which spread around the nerves and vessels of the head. Migraine generally occurs on a monthly basis and persists for a few hours, accompanied by symptoms such as nausea and intolerance of normal levels of light and sound.

Cluster headaches often occur frequently and do not last long. They are also very painful. They occur in clusters of six to twelve weeks and every one or two years, commonly at the same time of the year. The pain is excessively sharp and affects all of the head, typically starting with the eye, and then affecting the forehead, nose and mouth. It is much more rare than some other types of headache and primarily affects the male population.

Headaches are generally treated with over-the-counter analgesic drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol. A doctor could also advise to avoid some typical causes of headaches like noise or some kinds of foods.

Caffeine, Magnesium and Vitamin B2 have also proven effective in the treatment of migraine. Drugs however are not cheap and can have undesired side effects, especially for people who have to use them on a daily basis. This is why you may want to think about a different way of avoiding the numerous types of headache.

NLP and Hypnosis were indeed proven to be working and can help you to get rid of pain in any part of your body, including your head, as well as trying to be more relaxed at the same time. Stress is one of the first causes of headache, and specific hypnotic methods exist to get rid of both stress and headaches quickly.

People who have migraine or cluster headache can usually feel the first symptoms before it really happens, and could learn self-hypnosis techniques to abort them before they become too painful. Hypnotherapists who understand how handicapping a headache can be have designed these therapeutic methods.

Hypnotherapy is a drug free modality and will help you find the break you have been looking for. Headache is a serious condition with various forms, concerning millions of people worldwide. Learn to overcome it and to relax with the soothing method of self-hypnosis.

Headaches are the most ordinary nervous disease. Everybody will suffer from them at some point in their life, but for 55 million Americans, it is an everyday experience. Take heart, effective relief is available.
