If you are a person who is endeavoring to bring up your grades, there are a number of shortcuts that will help you to boost your ability to sharpen your attention, absorb the information that you study, and recollect it during a test without suffering from mental blocks or a test phobia. This is a list of how to go about instituting good learning habits:

(1) Establish an environment for learning and study only in that place! Find a quiet place that will make possible a focusing of attention without distractions. Some typical examples would be a library, a vacant classroom, or your bedroom. You will want to generate the custom of studying when you are in this place. So it is best to not use this place for other activities like daydreaming, watching TV, or playing music, etc.

(2) Divide your study periods into tiny, short-range projects.

(a) Set up small specific goals like, "I am going to study my creative writing from 3 PM to 4 PM. Or else you will set yourself up to not succeed.

(b) Set a accessible homework goal for the amount of time you are able to set aside. For example: finish reading chapter ten in my Algebra text, or complete an initial draft of my English paper, etc. Set your goals at the specific time that you are ready to sit down and study, just before you begin. Set reachable goals. You might possibly do more than reach your goal, but set a reachable goal even if it seems way too easy.
