How to feel confident and overcome inferiority

Inferiority is the feeling a person gets when he thinks that he is less worthy than others.
If you believe that you are not as good as your friends in any way then know that these are signs of inferiority.

The difference between inferiority and inferiority complex
Most people get this part wrong. There is a very big difference between inferiority and inferiority complex.

Inferiority is the feeling each normal person gets when he finds himself in an inferior position. For example if you are not that rich then found someone driving an expensive sports car you might get feelings of inferiority.

Inferiority in such a case is not bad because it’s usually a motivating force that can help you reach your goals.

Inferiority complex on the other hand is the case where you believe that you are inferior to others with disregard to the situation. Thinking that you are a loser, a failure or not worthy in general is an indication of the pretense of inferiority complex.

How does inferiority complex develop??

Some people mistakenly think that inferiority complex develops when someone finds himself in an unfavorable condition compared to his peers like for example being a handicapped child while in fact that’s not true.

During childhood each child feels inferior as a result of being surrounded by stronger and more capable adults. Now if that child managed to learn how to deal with life difficulties and to develop the needed skills required to face them he won’t feel inferior as a grown up.

If on the other hand, that child failed to develop such skills then his inferiority feelings will remain then turn into an inferiority complex.

So how can you get over inferiority complex?

Of course this is not going to take a month or two but it will certainly work if you were persistent enough to apply the plan to the end. Here is what you must do:

1)Understand your past very well. This will help you feel better as a result of realizing that you are feeling inferior because of past events and not because you are really not worthy. Examine the areas of your life that make you feel inferior. Just like self confidence is divided into areas inferiority is also divided into areas. Do you feel inferior when it comes to social relations? Work? Or something else?

2)Overcome your inferiority at that specific areas by excelling at that specific field. Most people who have inferiority complex do the mistake of compensating in the wrong direction. For example the guy who feels inferior when it comes to social relations compensates by achieving high academic degrees. While these academic degrees might help that person still they won’t help him get over his inferiority because the real problem is with his social relations.
