Coupled with the misconception of hypnosis women chose hospital births than relying on what seems to be a magic trick. The fear and expectation of pain has suppressed the practice of natural childbirth.

Recent studies show that hypnosis can be utilized in childbirth. It's a safer method for the mother and the child. Mothers can control their mind in perceiving and experiencing pain. Fear and tension is one of the reason why pain in childbirth doubles during delivery. If the mother can let go of this fear and concentrate she can have a natural pain free delivery without any medication.

Contrary to popular belief hypnosis is not just about controlling another person. The mother can go in and out of the hypnotic state without being controlled. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You cannot induce hypnosis on a person against her will.

Hypnotherapists only serve as a guide. The mother is the only one who can enter a hypnotic state. Using hypnosis she can control her mind and body for a natural childbirth. This will shorten the duration of delivery thus avoiding unnecessary medical interventions.
