Red Lipstick and The Timeless Red

Some women complete their makeup routine with the application of some mascara, and for others a quick pat of powder on their face is a done deal for the day. But what about wearing a red lipstick? Sometimes we all like to get dressed up and enhance our skin tone with a color that wears well for our skin tone, and the holidays are a great time to make a change by adding that “Red”.

Red is a timeless symbol of elegance, and will be the color on most women’s lips this holiday season. One cannot deny that color plays a part in how we feel, and adding color will enhance your celebration of the New Year with an immediate made-up look. Imagine wearing that red lipstick and liner to jazz up that gorgeous black outfit. With confidence and a little know-how, anyone can wear red lipstick. By understanding how to experiment with lip colors, a minor change can add a whole new look to your wardrobe.

If you’re wearing anything red for the New Year, staying in the same color family will keep you from making the wrong color choice. An astute lipstick wearer would have more than one lipstick color and texture in their makeup bag. It would be a good idea to keep a lipstick and lip liner in your car, desk and handbag so it’s always within your reach.

If you just don’t see yourself in any red lipstick at all, then choose a color according to your skin tone. If it looks good to you when you’re not wearing any makeup then it will look even better when your face is made up. A lipstick color that is at least 2 shades lighter or darker than your natural lip color will help guide you when choosing a lipstick you feel comfortable wearing.
