Making sure it is even prevents peaks and valleys, which will be reflected in the floor’s surface when done.

Give the new surface time to settle before moving any of the kitchen appliances back. You don't want the extra weight to move the flooring or warp it before it is set. Although it is often the last thing you think about changing, the kitchen floors can make a real difference to the look of your kitchen and the effort required is well worth it.
