Selling Christian Junk While making Shipwreck of Our Faith?

In the 1960’s I was onboard an 800ft long vessel that entered the Bermuda Triangle. She sailed along with ease in the calmest seas until clouds began forming on the horizon directly in the path of our heading. The storm that arose tossed that huge ship around like a mere toothpick in a Jacuzzi and when the swells lifted the bow, then suddenly dropped away, the ship would come down with a loud bang and shock waves reverberated down the entire length of the hull.

If the ship couldn’t bear the shock wave, it would break in half and sink. Many ships have met their doom this way. I ignored orders of the captain to stay inside. I mounted the top deck of the aft section and there held on for dear life while witnessing the most powerful show of nature’s fury I have seen to this day.

If I had to describe the social scene in America I would have to say that it is like my day in the Bermuda Triangle, and this ship I know as my native country, is in danger of breaking in half. The storm in the triangle lasted about forty minutes then disappeared and I hope that the storm that is tossing in our nation today is as short-lived. It could be if we choose to take action and steer clear of these present dangerous waters.

Some have chosen to believe that God has no modern prophets while others have decided to relegate what the prophets have to say to the realm of speculation and possibility. This mistake has been made repeatedly throughout the rise and fall of nations but something is far different today. It is not about nations anymore but it is about the entire world. The apostle Paul made the warnings in his day, but they are far more pertinent today, to wit:

“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:” (1Tim 1: 18-19)

In the politically correct climate of the day we must not liken some of our esteemed leaders to past despots like, Hitler, Mao, Mussolini or Stalin. Feigning disciplined self control we universalize our humanity to the lowest level of human awareness in its history.

Under the thin veneer of civility and educated manners we are as complicit as were Hitler’s beguiled and bedazzled, who just under the smile of youthful radiance became murderers and tormentors of their own mothers, fathers, friends and acquaintances and an entire generation of helpless Jewish men, women and children.

Some have been known to faint in the presence of the president and if a criticism is laid against him they become vitriolic, hateful and barely able to control outbursts of physicality. Youth who think Martin Luther King was the father of the nation, and can’t tell you if Mao was a Hindu Sheik or the leader of a Malaysian pop group become defensive of their hero like so many drones haply dying for the queen bee. They are as mindless minions mumbling mantras for their master with chants, applause and squeals of delight at his smile. Is it 1939 again? How would they know?

Unfair you say? He calls the highest unemployment rate since 1929, a bump in the road. He threatens to leave the elderly without their social security checks to blackmail the house republicans to raise the debt ceiling. Arizona can run her coffers dry because those Latino votes are worth their weight in gold for the Obama re-election campaign. Stimulus money is thrown around like the bursting of the piñata and now evidence is coming forth that it was used to buy guns for the ATF’s operation ‘fast and furious’ which resulted in the deaths of one of our own border agents.

The president sees no need to defend marriage between one man and one woman and along with the gays has dismissed the obvious. If that is what God intended he would have made Adam and Adam not Adam and Eve. If you have resorted to the non-scientific, un-witnessed hyperbole of life from a one celled amoeba even that would have had no future if the second amoeba generated was its own gender. Jesus said “wisdom is justified of her children” (Mt 11: 19b) but if the wisdom of this generation is allowed to prevail (gay marriage and abortion) for very long there will be no more children.

In the interim the believers are still heartily debating whether God still speaks today or will there be a pre, mid or post tribulation rapture. The apostates of the body of Christ have ordained them some gays and lesbians, adopted the Quran for readings on Sunday and assured us that the Gospel tells us that it wants us all to live like God’s little rich (prosperity gospel) kids right here in the land of good and plenty. Encroaching last days prophecies are converging together but for the blissfully happy throngs of gold seeking Christians there is no tomorrow.

We have about three dozen separate versions of the Bible available to us, now complete with designer colors and covers. Endless CDs with the latest contemporary Christian singles or groups are being sold at concerts, on TV and by the millions on the internet. Christian dating services now proclaim that it is God’s will for you to stop waiting for him to find you the right mate and hurry to sign up to their services for the lovelorn and lonely. They don’t want you to bypass the will of God, just jumpstart it, for a God who obviously must be too busy to pay that much attention to the details of your life.

The body of Christ which is reserved to become the bride of Christ at his second coming seems to have been seduced by all of this. She is now the whore that couldn’t wait for the long awaited day and has decided to go for the gusto of the world.

She has been assuaged by the preachers of tolerance and diversity to ignore the prophetic messengers that are still calling a spade a spade and declaring that abominations are just as disgusting to God today as they were when he declared that homosexuality was the forbidden, behavior of the demonically driven and degenerate of our society.

Now it is best not to mention it in sermons or theological treatise. Few voices can be found that dare to say what God has said. To the shame of the Christians you must search the backwaters of the internet to find those who while not given any substantial platform have at least not lost their nerve. If you’re lucky you might come across the journalism of one lone women called Devvy, who says that gays are having sex with each other in places where the rest of us store, discard and leave unseen the filthiest wastes of our bodies, and then they want others to see that as, just as natural as mom’s apple pie.

We are still dumping the bodies of unborn human beings into medical waste buckets by the thousand per day and calling it the right of a woman over her body. If a woman has a baby and only one minute after its birth she strangles the life out of it, she can face first degree murder charges and a possible sentence of death. With or without junk science, over reaching court justices and academic baloney this is the greatest example of collective hypocrisy to come down the pike since Jim Jones and the Koolaider’s. Sadly this isn’t 900 blind sycophants in the jungles of Guyana but it is the majority of today’s youth, liberal adults and those too detached from reality to describe.

We hide behind junk, faux and ignorant science that cannot tell us when human life begins so they simply left it up to a band of nine non-scientists to decide for them in the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973. Now if every argument fails and we can’t trample the conscience of the few remaining dissenters with the glib pronouncement that it is, after all, “the law of the land.” To sooth the rest of us we can tout the accomplishments of the greens that are fighting to save polar bears and whales and getting those trees under the protection of humans with a visibly higher level of world consciousness.

Not all have followed the apostates into the ever darkening regions of reprobation that is encroaching on the entire world. But nowhere in scripture are we called to apologize for warning the rest, because of the few faithful who are not turning away. The sternest message of prophecy, be it from the lips of an ancient prophet or modern day evangelist, is never directed at the obedient. Those who are not sick don’t need a visit from the physician. In the common vernacular; if the shoe fits, wear it.

Everyone wants to know the date, the signs and the order of Christ’s return but few are willing to look at the conditions that will precede his return. Few are willing to see that those conditions for the most part are seen in them, not the disasters and calamities that befall our world. Here are those conditions, check them for yourself. These are not conditions of the past and although we may be retiring our shuttle programs it will not be until we retire from the space programs we have between our ears that honesty will once again have her day. Arise, America you’ve got no place left to go, except to look up and believe God.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” (1Tim 3: 1-4)

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” (Ro 1: 26-28)
