The Holy Strategy for Today's Leaders

By: Daryl G.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19

Have you wondered how your organization can move ahead? Do you have a strategy? If one wants to become an effective strategist, one could easy find examples from a biblical perspective; ponder this in your hearts, if you will. The Apostle Paul, guided by the Holy Spirit, exercised transformational properties when dealing with the early church. Paul understood the challenges of apostleship. He found himself in a virtual capacity, using every communication technique to stay connected with these distant churches. However, Paul also knew how to follow. One sees this implication as Paul follows others after his conversion (Acts 9). Miller, a leadership expert, maintained that every Christian who desires to become a leader must first know how to follow.

But, Paul also cared about people; this is the servant-focus way. Paul emphasized common problems, solutions, and objectives; when teaching his followers these commonalities helped unite the Christian church in Paul’s time. All of these things pointed to Jesus Christ.

Unlike most leaders of today, Paul never tried to be something he wasn’t. Some leaders try to be all things to all people but hold no spirituality. Pascarella, author of Christ Centered Leadership, argues for a shift in organizational thinking where leaders do not separate the spiritual from the secular.

Finally, if today’s leaders would allow the Holy Spirit to work in all facets of their lives, they could be effective like the Apostle Paul. Therefore, strategy can become a critical asset to 21st century leadership.
