The Power of YES - Part I

By: ReggieO

We have countless opportunities every day to say “Yes,” or “No.” To respond to what rises up from within you that seeks to be expressed. Or to respond to what comes to you from the outside - the invitations, requests, demands or expectations of others.

On Saying Yes - and No - to Others

“Yes” and “No” are two of the most powerful and empowering words in the universe. IF you mean them.

Saying "yes" to others - clients, friends, loved ones, colleagues, bosses, to someone selling you something - seems easier than saying “no.” The problems arise when you say “yes” when you really want to say “no.”

Each “yes” we say when we mean it is a true “yes.” Each "yes" we say when we don’t really want to is a false “yes.”

A true “yes” is a wholehearted commitment of energy and attention to whatever you have said “yes” to. You can only give a true “yes” to something that is true for you. What is true for you is always life giving and increases your aliveness.

Otherwise, it is a false “yes.” You can speak the word “yes” but if you don’t mean it, even if you follow through it will be half-hearted, empty of life energy. How can it not be if you are going against your inner truth?

Saying “yes” when you don’t mean it is disempowering. It drains your energy and erodes your confidence. It keeps you from being fully awake. And it creates a sense of disconnection within yourself, and to others.

Each false “yes” to others strengthens the false beliefs that other people are your Source and that you are not worthy of speaking and living your truth. These “yeses” almost always give rise to resentment down the road.

Where or to whom are you currently saying a false “yes?”

A true “yes” or a true “no” is empowering. A true “yes” sparks your full engagement. It focuses your energy and attention, enlivens and energizes you and calls forth an expanded or deeper expression of your authentic self.

A true “no” is an act of faith. It nourishes your confidence and self-esteem. When it is spoken with love and respect - for yourself and the other - it increases a sense of freedom, connection and trust. And it gives others permission to do the same.

A true “yes” or “no” honors both you and the other(s). When you are being true to you, you are inherently being true to everyone involved. You both deserve that truth.

What is a true “no” that you need to say?

What is the true “yes” that it is time to say?

The Ultimate YES

A true “yes” or “no” is essentially a YES! The YES is to you, your truth and the Spirit within. And to the truth and the Spirit within everyone involved. Ultimately, you are saying YES to Life. Each time you say YES to Life, Life resoundingly says an even bigger YES to you.

Make each "yes" or "no" a YES to Life. The difference in your own life will be amazing.

Step Into Your Greatness!

Say “Yes” to Life!

The key to an amazing life is the ability to say Yes to Life. It is okay to say no, actually it is empowering just as saying yes to something that excites you. Every time you say a yes or no that is true to you; you are able to focus your energy and attention, enliven and energize yourself while calling forth your authenticity.
