What is a Woman???

By: Susie Heath

What are the beautiful attributes of a woman?
How about:
Sensual, loving, warm, dark, passionate, like juicy fruit, wild, seductive, tender, powerful, curvaceous, moist, compassionate, flexible, delicious, surrendering, intuitive, emotional, deep, encompassing, like a flower bud, caressing, secret, smouldering, honouring life, reliable, dependable, truthful, earthy, voluptuous, sexy, warm, soft, open, embracing, fluid, bowing and bending, seeking equilibrium, strong, beautiful, thoughtful, funny, with a quiet hidden nurturing side that is at the centre of our feminine nature. And yet at the same time, she can be mischievous, childlike, frivolous, petulant, saucy, wilful, playful, one moment a harlot, the next moment the lover, the teacher, the healer, the mother.

All of these and so much more are within us, but how often do we let the world and those we love see all these parts of us? This is both our strength and our vulnerability, but it is not until we share this magnificence of who we are with the world that the world has the opportunity to change.
As Marianne Williamson says,
“As we let our light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission
To do the same.”
We are so different from men - thank heaven! What a beautiful contrast. Aren’t we fortunate to have the diversity of maleness and femaleness? When we remember our feminine nature - truly remember it - we become well-rooted, strong and enriched, as it gives our creative spirit the chance to soar and be free.

How many of us are truly living at this magnificent core of our feminine essence? Woman’s natural state is to feel vulnerable all the time, but because we are scared to let go of control and allow a man to take care of us, our fear makes us behave in strange ways instead of using that vulnerability to generate something even more beautiful, even more powerful, and to be our real selves.

Sadly most women under 40 have been taught ‘Never rely on a man,’ yet many women secretly admit that they too are tired of fighting dragons. How we long to have real men to take responsibility for some of our decisions from time to time, so that we can be in the power and flow of who we really are as women. © Susie Heath
