Why Should Christians Love?

Christian should love for God commanded them to do so! “Love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law” (Romans 13: 9-10, NIV).

Loving and serving others shows that we love God. We are to believe in God (meaning have faith and believe what He has said in the Bible) and then we are to implement that faith in our life by obeying it.

The Christian should love because this is the only way that we can live in harmony and in peace with our family, friends and neighbors. Also, this is the only tools and weapon that we can have to be able to overcome evil with good!

Romans 12: 9-21 clearly explained what love means is and what God urge us to do to others. Love must be sincere.

Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.

Honor one another above yourselves.

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.

Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay.” Says the Lord.

The writer firmly believed that actions speak louder than words. It means through showing our love and concern to others is one way of proving that God is love not only just by preaching without doing, for now a days people or our neighbor sometimes focus on how we live than what we said. Thus doing God’s commandment and obeying means we are helping to spread the Gospel or Good News of God’s love in the whole world especially if you don’t have the talent of preaching!

We must always be remember, the clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop; at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, work with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow, for the clock of life may then be still.
