    So why do companies fail? We are not talking about mummy’s home-made apple pie business here or the lone geek’s sudden prosperity through sale of weird gaming software. Proper organisations, with all the capital and infrastructure that should have made them tick don’t, and are either bought by someone else, or simply have to shut shop. ‘Top tens’ of various types have become points of corporate joke books by now, and that is because of two reasons. One is that those who write them have either ‘borrowed’ them haphazardly from management best-sellers (and some of these well-acclaimed books are horror reads themselves).
