Going Within For Peace of mind
Why meditation?
How is this going to help me find solutions to my problems?
During the day we are constantly subjected to sensory input. Our minds are always in the process of thinking. We have conversations, write reports, read, watch TV, and solve problems, etc., etc. As we do these things we engage in a mental commentary, a sort of inner “The Drama of Me”. Most people aren’t aware of all of the mental thought activity that we are engaged in until we try to quiet the mind during meditation. We are so busy doing, doing, doing that we don’t take the time to really listen to our soul.
Can relaxation techniques really help me manage my diabetes?
Stress alters blood glucose levels.
Reducing stress is key to managing your diabetes. The American Diabetes association says that controlling stress with relaxation therapy seems to help. It is more likely to be effective with type 2 that type 1 diabetes. The reason is simple. Stress blocks the body from producing insulin in people with type 2 diabetes, so releasing excess stress help. People with type 1 diabetes don’t make insulin so stress reduction doesn’t have this effect. However, reducing stress is beneficial for all since it helps people to focus on taking better care of themselves.
Anxiety- the most un-talked about issue facing business professionals.
After speaking with and surveying over 3000 business professionals last year I was amazed to discover that anxiety,
the most un-talked about problem affecting business people,
was an issue for 40% of those completing my survey. We will talk about almost anything else but the issue of anxiety is strictly taboo in the business world.
After all, what would people think if they knew you really didn’t have it all together?
Meditation for Busy People
“I know I should meditate. I know all the reasons that I should just sit”, Amy sighed
“But I just don’t have the extra time. I’m busy” she cried.
I had heard it before. Amy led a very busy life. She was a professional executive for a large company with many demands. On top of that she had a husband and two children who also wanted her attention. Between work and home Amy felt stretched to the max, add to that the fact she felt responsible for everyone's happiness.
Stress is not the Enemy!
Stress is often what pushes us forward in life. It helps us to cram for exams, finish that project, and clean the house before company arrives. Stress helps us to win contests and races, ace that test or the job interview. Stress is often the very thing that helps us to make necessary changes in our life like leaving a bad relationship or moving on to a better job opportunity.
